Estate and Trust Administration

Estate administration is the process of collecting and managing a deceased loved one’s estate, paying any debts, taxes and administration expenses, and distributing the remaining property to the beneficiaries.

Providing guidance during a difficult time

At the initial meeting, we review the composition of the estate with the family or friend of the deceased to determine what is required to facilitate the transfer of the deceased’s assets to the heirs and beneficiaries. If probate is required, Starr Traiger will prepare and process the court documents and advise the personal representative how to identify and access the assets, pay the claims and estate expenses, prepare accountings, and distribute the estate.

If assets are held in or contributed to a trust, Starr Traiger will serve as an advisor to the trustee. Where estate or fiduciary returns are required, we will gather the required information and prepare or arrange for the preparation of those returns. Finally, if the estate includes real property that is to be sold, Starr Traiger will draft the requisite documents and represent the fiduciary in the sale.
